How do I start the importation process?
To start the importation process, first you will need to secure an order with the exporter/seller of the vehicle in Japan. Once you have paid the fees to your seller, they will arrange the vehicle to be shipped. At this point you will need to start customs service for your shipment as the ISF Filing is required to be filed prior to arrival to the U.S. Port and is best to be filed before departure if possible.

ISF Filing
ISF is required to be filed prior to arrival at the U.S. Port.
Customs Clearance
Entry Filing is required to obtain customs clearance upon arrival and to pay import duties to CBP.
NHTSA & EPA
Both electronic and hardcopy submission of the NHTSA & EPA 25 year exemption is required to CBP with entry filing to obtain clearance from the port.
Customs Bond
All vehicle shipments are required to be bonded regarless of the value as other goverment agencies besides CBP is involved such as NHTSA and EPA.
